9 environmental benefits of using solar energy for powering your property

We all know that there is major threat to our planet from climate change. There are several ways to combat global warming. But the most effective one is harness the power of solar energy to meet our power needs because burning of fossil fuels for power generation account for 75% of the green house gas emissions. If we focus on making the power sector cleaner, we could restore the earth's atmosphere to what it was.

#goingsolar have several environmental benefits:

  1. Lowering carbon footprint : Solar energy is a clean, sustainable energy source that doesn't produce any greenhouse gases. Other traditional sources of energy produce large amount of carbon footprint. You may lessen your carbon footprint and contribute to the fight against climate change by moving to solar energy.

  2. Water conservation : Fossil fuel power plants need a lot of water to cool themselves, which can cause water shortages and environmental harm. On the other side, solar power plants require little to maintain, making them a more environmentally friendly choice. Cleaning of solar panels require no chemicals like those required for fossil fuel plants.

  3. Improving air quality :The fact that solar energy produces very little air pollution is one of its main advantages. According to research widespread solar adoption can considerably lower emissions of nitrous oxide, sulphur dioxide, and particulate matter, all of which can be harmful to human health.

  4. Lessens our dependency on fossil fuels: Fossil fuels have limited reserves and there is always a tussle between nations and regions over these limited reserves. We can decrease our dependency on non-renewable energy sources and improve energy security by producing our own clean energy from the sun.

  5. Improves Global Health: Carbon emissions have serious negative impacts on human health affecting lungs and heart health. By going solar, we can ultimately improve air quality and hence improve global health and eventually reduce the budgets that countries and people spend on their health.

  6. No need of additional infrastructure: One of the most under-rated benefits of solar energy is that they do not require huge infrastructure for installation. They can be easily installed on existing rooftops and grounds and do not require intensive construction activity.

  7. Recycling is possible: Solar panels have a life cycle of 25 years, after which they do continue to operate but with lower efficiencies. Though the technology for recycling is still in the nascent stage, there are companies that extract the semiconducting materials from solar cells and use them in new products.

  8. Remote locations can be serviced: In India, the coverage of electricity has improved but the service is unreliable with major outages and power cuts. Such places can be served with solar panels without requiring major construction activity that disturbs the nearby environment.

  9. No noise pollution: The operation of solar panels is noise free as there are no moving parts unlike fossil fuel based plants. This is a great advantage for residential properties who want to maintain the peace of the neighbourhood, while generating their own power.
